Did you know over 50% of microplastics entering the oceans each year come from paint. 

I am going old school with my practice, using oils, old world glue and sizing practices made from renewable resources and biodegradable materials, utilizing old discarded paper materials as well as old cotton clothing as my canvas and even going so far as to make my own frames out of untreated woods and metal nails. 

I aim to create each piece from start to finish. Making the paper or frame, constructing my own canvas, using materials that - while archival - ultimately make their way back to the earth. This means using materials that break back down. No polymers, no pva glues, no premade acrylic gesso canvas. 

Ultimately once a piece leaves my hands into that of collector it is their do with as they choose, if one day my piece finds its way into less desirable circumstance I would like to know it doesn't contribute to our continued problems with waste.

I find the I often follow themes around circles, this is something I have done most of my life and simply feel compelled to make them. My circles in practice have been pieced together from many sources to form a whole. The coming together of unexpected pieces to form a new narrative of its own. The coming together of the old into the new.
